Three victories in a row gave Marie Bjorling undisputed victory on her debut at Tróia Portugal Women’s Cup, with 17 victories in 18 races. The Swedish skipper divided the Sado’s race course with fellow-countrywoman Karin Hagstrom, and dominated each of the races even having incurred on a penalty during the prestart manoeuvres in two of the matches. “Those were very competitive flights against Karin, vice-champion of last year’s northern championship”, said Marie Bjorling, who is now preparing for the world match racing championship to be held in Lysekil, Sweden from 26 July thru 1 August. Surrounded by her team and her family, Marie Bjorling received a prize money of 2000 euros of a total of 8000 euros, shared between the first classifieds.
